The computing performance of three microprocessors, namely the ARM7TDMI, the PowerPC823, and the LEON2, has been compared for spaceborne navigation tasks. To that end, a realistic test scenario has been established which comprised the propagation of a state vector and its transition matrix for a satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). As a result, it has been shown that the LEON2 processor outperforms the PowerPC823 by a factor of about 10 and the ARM7 TDMI by a factor of 5.
